Mahomed Enver Ebrahim Asmal

My Story

Enver Asmal has over 45 years of experience in engineering and infrastructure development, beginning his career in construction across Southern Africa. He founded the Degaturn Group, the largest fully black-owned construction business in South Africa and later advised Black and Veatch International (BVI) on restructuring its African assets, leading to his acquisition of the business.

Enver has overseen major infrastructure projects, including roads funded by international development institutions and water projects such as Botswana’s North-South Carrier Project. Enver is a founding shareholder of the Invest in Africa Group, which was established through acquisitions, and played a key role in the entry of ACWA Power into South Africa, where he led the development of the Bokpoort 50MW CSP Power Plant in the Northern Cape.

Enver also launched and operated the only private multi-port regional airport company in South Africa, as well as a private air traffic control company. He has advised the South African government on critical infrastructure projects and facilitated energy developments in Northern Mozambique. Additionally, he has been involved in international transactions, including brewery deals in the UK and investment facilitation for GCC family offices into Africa.

He continues to serve as Director of companies in the Invest in Africa Group, focusing on both local and international transactions.
