Our Mission

“Our mission is to develop and operate a world-class Chlor-Alkali facility in the Western Cape to ensure a sustainable, low-carbon, and secure supply of essential chemical products for South Africa and beyond.”

The Green Chemicals Consortium (Pty) Limited (GCC) was established as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in early 2024. The SPV was established to develop, own and operate a Chlor-Alkali facility in the Western Cape. The establishment of a plant in the Western Cape will significantly reduce the Carbon footprint of the current production of Chlor-Alkali products in South Africa.

The plant will also ensure security of supply of significant key chemical derivatives such as Caustic Soda, bottled Chlorine, Calcium Chloride and food grade Carbon Dioxide required in the Western Cape and other adjacent provinces in South Africa. The facility will also enable the export of such materials to the rest of Africa and other global customers.
